1. Product Introduction
The three-pass sand dryer is a professional drying equipment
independently developed for dry-mix mortar production lines. It is
mainly used for continuous dehydration of wet materials such as
river sand, manufactured sand and quartz sand for mortar
production.
Adopting a three-layer concentric sleeve composite heat exchange
structure, the wet sand turns back and forth inside the drum and
fully contacts with hot air for efficient heat exchange. The
equipment can stably dry wet sand with an initial moisture content
of 8%-20% to a finished product moisture content of 0.5%-1.0%,
fully meeting the raw material standards for dry-mix mortar, tile
adhesive, putty mortar and other building materials.
Matched with feeding machines, belt conveyors, hot blast stoves and
dust removal systems, it forms a fully automatic drying production
line. It supports 24-hour continuous stable operation, effectively
solving common mortar quality problems such as caking, unstable
strength and short shelf life caused by undried wet sand, and is
the core supporting equipment for standard dry-mix mortar plants.

2. Core Advantages
- Precise Moisture Control for Mortar Grade: Equipped with optimized combined lifting plates to ensure uniform
material dispersion. The finished sand moisture content is stably
controlled at 0.5%-1.0% without uneven drying, completely avoiding
mortar moisture regain and caking, and ensuring stable finished
mortar quality.
- High Energy-Saving Efficiency with Three-Pass Structure: The thermal efficiency is increased by more than 35% compared
with traditional single-drum dryers. The outer drum is equipped
with a thermal insulation layer to reduce heat loss, greatly
reducing fuel consumption and production operation costs.
- Compact Structure & Small Floor Space: The three-layer nested integrated design shortens the overall
equipment length. It features flexible layout, suitable for new
construction and renovation of various dry-mix mortar production
lines, saving plant construction area.
- Wear-Resistant & Durable: The drum body and lifting plates are made of high-strength
wear-resistant manganese steel to resist scouring and abrasion of
sand and gravel. The optimized sealing structure effectively
prevents air and material leakage and reduces on-site dust
pollution.
- Multi-Heat-Source Compatibility: It can be flexibly matched with natural gas, diesel, biomass
particles, coal-fired and other hot blast stoves, adapting to
different energy conditions of various factories and regions.
- High Automation & Easy Operation: Equipped with variable-frequency feeding and drum speed
regulation systems. Optional online temperature and humidity
monitoring system realizes real-time parameter adjustment, reducing
manual operation and maintenance costs.
- Moderate Discharging Temperature: The temperature of finished dried sand is ≤60℃, which can be
directly transported to the sand silo for storage without
additional cooling process, improving production efficiency.
- Standard Environmental Protection Performance: It can be supporting with cyclone dust removal and bag dust
removal systems to ensure up-to-standard exhaust gas emission,
meeting the environmental protection acceptance requirements of
building material factories.

4. Operation & Maintenance Precautions
4.1 Startup Operation Rules
- Follow the standard startup sequence: start dust removal fan →
dryer main machine → feeding conveyor → ignite hot blast stove.
Preheat the drum for 30 minutes first, then feed materials
gradually. Forbid large-scale feeding with cold drum.
- Keep uniform feeding at all times. Strictly prevent large mud
blocks and sundries from entering the drum to avoid blockage.
Pre-screening of wet sand is recommended.
- Do not overload the equipment beyond the rated capacity, so as to
avoid unqualified drying effect and equipment overload damage.
- Monitor the moisture content of finished sand and hot air
temperature in real time, and adjust feeding speed and combustion
power timely.
4.2 Shutdown Operation Rules
- Stop feeding first before shutdown, and keep the drum running for
15-30 minutes to completely empty the residual sand inside the
drum.
- Gradually reduce the temperature of the hot blast stove. Do not
shut down the machine directly under high temperature to prevent
local thermal deformation of the drum.
- Turn off the main machine and fan only after the drum is fully
cooled down.
4.3 Daily Maintenance & Safety
- Check the lubrication of supporting wheels and retaining wheels and
the tightness of sealing parts daily to avoid air leakage and
material leakage.
- Clean the adhered sand on the inner wall of the drum and the
accumulated materials on the lifting plates weekly to maintain
stable heat exchange efficiency.
- Inspect the blockage of dust removal pipes and filter bags monthly
to avoid poor exhaust and reduced drying efficiency.
- It is forbidden for personnel to approach the rotating drum during
equipment operation. Power-off and hanging warning signs are
mandatory for maintenance.
- No flammable articles are allowed in the heat source area, and fire
extinguishing equipment shall be equipped in the workshop.
- Completely empty the sand inside the drum and do anti-rust
treatment for long-term shutdown.
4.4 Special Notes for Mortar Production
The dried sand shall be stored in a closed silo to prevent
re-absorbing moisture from the open air. Do not add admixtures
before the dried sand is fully cooled.
