Hot bent glass is a type of glass that has been shaped while hot into curved or bent forms. This process allows for the creation of unique architectural elements, such as curved windows, glass facades, or decorative features.

1. Glass Selection: The process begins with selecting the appropriate type of glass for the desired application. Different types of glass, such as float glass or tempered glass, may be used depending on factors like strength, transparency, and thermal resistance.

2. Heating: The selected glass is heated in a furnace to a specific temperature until it reaches a state where it becomes malleable. The temperature required depends on the type and thickness of the glass.

3. Shaping: Once the glass reaches the desired temperature, it is carefully manipulated or bent into the desired shape using molds or other tools. This process requires precision to achieve the desired curvature without causing the glass to crack or deform.

4. Cooling: After shaping, the glass is gradually cooled to room temperature to solidify its new form. This may be done gradually in a controlled cooling chamber or by allowing the glass to cool naturally in the open air.

5. Annealing: To relieve internal stresses and strengthen the glass, it undergoes a process called annealing. This involves heating the glass to a specific temperature and then slowly cooling it again over a period of time.

6. Finishing: Once the glass has been shaped and cooled, it may undergo additional finishing processes such as polishing or sandblasting to achieve the desired surface texture or appearance.
