Brief of VR Safety Joint

The VR Safety joint is applied for well drill stem testing operation in open hole in well testing service.

The VR safety joint featured with compact structure is right-hand safety joint used in the DST working string. The VR safety joint is run in hole above the packer assembly in order to ensure that a minimum number of tools are left in the hole. he bypass of the VR joint acts as an auxiliary to the Hydro spring tester bypass to allow fluid to pass though the packer while the work string is being pulled out of the hole.

Test procedure of the Open Hole VR Safety Joint

* Internal Pressure sealing test:

1. Make up the test sub on the two ends of the tool, install the tool into tensile strength tester, with two ends against the tester, attach sensor, pressure test pipeline and test pump on the test sub.

2. Pump water into the tool and remove the air inside, increase pressure gradually to 70Mpa, close stop valve on the test sub, hold the pressure for 15 minutes with no leakage.

* Movement test:

Place the case section of the tool in the vise, rotate the top adapter clockwise to the limited position, then, lift, rotate clockwise and lower down to the limited position.
