Phased Array “Type B” Calibration Block

ASTM E2491 Phased Array Assessment Block is a general-purpose phased array calibration block used for beam characterization and evaluation of system performance characteristics.

It serves as a baseline block to monitor long-term instrument performance changes, generate DAC curves, and evaluate linear/angular resolution, focusing ability and beam steering capability.

Featuring a variety of targets, this compact, lightweight block is also ideal for customer demonstrations of phased array ultrasonic capabilities.

Phased Array “Type A” Calibration Block

This block is used during initial setup and calibration of phased array ultrasonic units.

It can perform beam angle verification, wedge delay calibration, sensitivity calibration, DAC/TCG generation, and other functions.

With dimensions similar to an IIW-Type block, it is specially engineered for phased array applications.

The block includes:
  • 4.000" and 2.000" radii
  • 19 through holes of 0.040" diameter
  • 1 through hole of 0.080" diameter
  • 4 FBHs: 0.080" diameter × 0.080", 0.160", 0.235", 0.315" deep
  • 4 FBHs: 0.157" diameter × 0.040", 0.120", 0.200", 0.275" deep
  • 3 FBHs: 0.080" diameter × 0.120" deep machined into the 2.000" radius
  • 4 EDM notches: 0.004", 0.008", 0.012", 0.016" deep × 0.020" wide × 1.00" long
