This marker is made of a special kind of glass, which can on average withstand compressive loads exceeding 20 tons without fracturing. Its rounded top concentrates the light that is reflected back by its aluminum-coated bottom. The aluminum layer is chemically bonded to the glass and the strength of the adhesion prevents any decohesion from occurring. It can resist weather and earth corrosion for a very long time, especially when it is fixed in the road by epoxy.
