● How does power tap work?
PowerTap hub-based power meters work by measuring the amount of force, or torque, at the rear hub using strain gauges embedded within the hub. The PowerTap hub also measures the speed of the hub by using a speed sensor within the hub and a magnet attached to the axle.
● Are NMEA 2000 connectors waterproof?
To be completely waterproof, the connectors would have to be IPX8, and commonly IPX9K rated. Our connectors are rated to IP67 when mated. For more information on NMEA 0183 and how it works, please download our free guide to NMEA 0183 networking.
● Does NMEA 2000 provide power to devices?
Yes, any NMEA 2000 network needs power. A large amount of NMEA 2000 devices are powered solely from the backbone, and this power is used to operate the device. Whilst this is the case for most devices, not all devices are powered from the NMEA 2000 network completely.
