What is Saesongi mushroom?
Saesongi mushroom belongs to Pleurotus ostreatus, which also
belongs to Basidiomycetes Agaricus campestris of Eumycetes. Even
though its scientific name is "Keunneutari mushroom," it is
generally called "Saesongi mushroom" in the market. In Japan, it is
called "Eryngii, while in China, it is called Hangpogo. In the
Western countries, it is called King Oyster Mushroom.
Because Saesongi mushroom lives around the dead roots of the
herbaceous plants (scientific name: Eryngiu Campestre), it is
called Pleurotus eryngii after the host plant that belongs to the
thorned Ranunculus family.
Saesongi Mushroom is a typical field growing mushroom that likes
dry climates. It is mostly seen in the semi-sand areas and places
where the temperature difference between day and night is severe.
