By inserting key innovativefeatures into this proven combination of strengths, the Synergy N9 isan industry breakthrough.At Synergy Helicopters we realize thata helicopters excellence is not solely measured by how well it flies.Durability, ease of assembly, repair and maintenance are equallyimportant ingredients in the formula. The Synergy N9 features a lowparts count and an ultra-simple build. The assembly instructions areamong the best in the business. With this in mind, we worked hard toincorporate features that would not only make the Synergy N9 the bestflying helicopter on the market, but also the most enjoyable helicopterto own.One of the heaviest components in a model helicopter isthe power plant. If the power plant is too far below the rotor disc,there will be a discernable pendulum effect. Pitch and roll performancecould suffer. By raising the power plant in the frameset, the SynergyN9 has a very high center of mass. By keeping this center of masscloser to the rotor disc the pendulum effect is reduced and thehelicopter is markedly more stable. Synergy N9 cyclic response is crispand predictable.The Synergy N9 features a composite enginemount. This innovative use of material reduces airframe vibrationssubstantially. This equates to a smooth running helicopter with longerairframe and electronics life.The landing gear on the SynergyN9 are manufactured from an incredibly durable and lightweightcomposite material. Rigorously tested, this landing gear will withstandincredible loads. The landing gear struts are bolted directly to theframeset, which further reduces the parts count, keeps weight down, andsimplifies installation and removal. The landing gear struts on theSynergy N9 feature an internal skid capturing system. This provensystem negates the need for gear replacement if the strut bottomsshould ever wear through.The large machined main gear andstandard 15 tooth pinion gear comprise the rotor head drive system onthe Synergy N9. The larger gears allow for an extremely smoothgear-train. Standard gearing is 8.27 to 1. Alternative popular gearingoptions will be available.The engine cooling system on theSynergy N9 can handle the high demands of your chosen power plant. Thehigh efficiency cooling fan is combined with a specially designed fanshroud to meet this need. The unmodified cooling shroud willaccommodate most popular cylinder heads including: OS, YS, and theViperhead. The N9 cooling fan mounts directly to the crankshaft via atop and bottom self-aligning split collet system. This system does notrequire the use of a woodruff key.At the heart of the main gearis the durable sprag bearing. Based on past experience, this type ofauto-hub bearing is the most dependable and reliable. By supporting thedurable 12mm diameter main shaft above and below the sprag with radialbearings, a smooth running and trouble free system is virtuallyguaranteed.The Synergy N9 features a rugged tail boom / taildrive assembly. The 22mm diameter aluminum tail boom is lightweight,strong, and perhaps most importantly easy to replace (both physicallyAND financially.) The 10mm diameter hollow aluminum drive tube featuresdual ball bearing support. If the drive tube should requirereplacement, the bearings and drive ends are re-usable via aninnovative positive lock collar system. This further reduces costs inthe event of an incident.The Synergy N9 features a forwardfacing engine. This orientation allows the fuel tank to be closer tothe main shaft reference line providing a consistently balancedhelicopter throughout the entire flight. OMI Viperhead owners will notbe required to obtain or use special tools to service their glow plugs.TheSynergy N9 tail rotor system is ready for hard 3D. Featuring anextremely heavy duty tail rotor hub and a 6mm output shaft, the entiresystem was designed to comfortably handle high horsepower engines andmodern gyros. The machined self lubricating composite tail rotor gearswill stand up to the most aggressive 3D flying. The durablesemi-enclosed tail rotor gearbox protects the tail rotor gears while atthe same time allowing easy inspection. The large diameter tail rotorhub on the N9 provides a large 292mm (11.5 inch) diameter tail rotordisc. Combined with a 4.67 to 1 tail rotor gear ratio, the N9 hasoutstanding tail rotor authority.The 120 eCCPM control systemwas designed to be as simplistic as possible. The servos are mounted ina composite tray once again attenuating airframe vibration andextending servo life. Servo installation is straightforward, utilizingstandard servo wheels. The control rods are 2.5mm throughout the entirehelicopter featuring 5.5mm diameter balls. CNC billet aluminum bellcranks transfer servo motion to the swashplate.The Synergy N9rotor head features composite blade grips and a CNC billet aluminumhead block. The composite grips extend bearing life, while working withthe innovative two-stage dampening to give the N9 incredible flightcharacteristics. The flybar ratio has three adjustments to suitdifferent flying styles. The CNC billet aluminum washout base includesa brass bushing for longer low tolerance life. The blade grips utilizea 5mm rotor blade bolt for added durability and safety. The N9 canswing a maximum blade length of 720mm, while the grips will accept upto a 14mm blade root.Synergy Helicopters is proud to lead theindustry into tomorrow with a stock 5mm flybar. The N9 features apositive flybar control system constructed of CNC aluminum with steelconnecting balls. The safety of a thicker flybar combined with thiscontrol system contribute to the N9s exceptional tracking, and alsoenhance cyclic response. High end 5mm flybar paddles are included inthe kit.The 22oz fuel tank is among the largest available itsclass. Internally mounted within the frameset the tank is secure forthe hardest 3D. Surrounded by an innovative rubber frame barrier,pressurized fuel delivery systems will not chafe the fuel tank uponexpansion. This large fuel tank allows 10 minute plus flight timeswithout a header tank.At the heart of the Synergy N9s drivetrain is a steel centrifugal clutch. Specially designed to work withthe lower RPM of .90 size engines, this proven clutch design boltsdirectly to the cooling fan for ease of installation. Engineinstallation and removal is straight forward and simple. The startshaft is an integral part of the clutch assembly.The clutchbell is pre-drilled to accept governor sensor magnets. This innovativefeature reduces clutter on the engine mounts, and also moves the sensoraway from its traditional close proximity to the engine. This willlead to longer sensor life and easier access to engine for installationand removal.The radio tray was designed with todays modernradio equipment in mind. Ample space is provided on the radio tray formodern batteries, switches, amplifiers, governors, regulators,receivers, and wiring. No creative modifications are required to equipa Synergy N9.The Synergy N9 features a durable one piecefiberglass canopy. Streamlined and narrow, this canopy is not onlyattractive, but also aerodynamically clean. The canopy is gel-coatedand ready for your own custom paint job.
