A naturally rich golden colour, it has the botanical name of Antherea Assama caterpillar which feeds on the leaves of the som (Machilus Bombycine) and Soalu trees (Litsea Polyantha).It is a wild caterpillar reared outdoors and from this is produced the beautiful, exotic and the strongest natural fiber known. Muga silk is exclusive only to the state of Assam and not produced anywhere in the world.
