Pass Labs Aleph 30 Stereo Amp

Description features:The Pass Labs Aleph 30 stereo amplifier is the successor to the legendary 30wpc Pass Labs Aleph 3 that was ranked category Class A for sound quality (April 1997) and voted 1997 budget component of the year in Stereophile magazine. Although the circuitry and parts are identical to the original Aleph 3, the Aleph 30 improves upon it in the following ways; It has an attractive full sized chassis with the power switch conveniently located on the front of the faceplate. The Aleph 3 was literally one big square heat sink with the power switch hard to get at on the back of the amp. The input impedance was raised from 27k ohms to 47k ohms to allow vacuum tube preamps to work more comfortably with it. Matched input devices lower the noise floor significantly as well. Both RCA inputs and XLR inputs are available for true balanced operation as well. The number of output transistors was increased 50% for even more safe operating area into difficult speaker loads. This classic design features true pure class A operation guaranteeing the absolute lowest distortion, and provides 30wpc into 8ohms, 45wpc into 4ohms. Simple two-gain stage single ended mosfet circuitry, with only two sets of gain devices and three resistors between input and output, avoids the sonic degradation of more complex designs. The result is a reliable, maintenance free solid-state amplifier with excellent test bench measurements, and the emotionally involving warmth and depth associated with the finest tube amplifiers. These are the reasons that no amplifier, even at three or four times the price, will outperform the Aleph 30 for sonic purity, transparency and sound staging. Features include five way binding posts, detachable AC power cord. The unit is still under the manufacturer's warranty, is in perfect working order, and gets a 10/10 for cosmetics.
